Clint
Livingston has been involved in dogs all his life and dog shows since
the age of 7. He began in obedience, putting a CD on a Rough Collie
when he was only 8 years old. His parents bred and raised both German
Shepherds and Collies, and owned the #1 Rough Collie in the country
in 1979/1980. They also taught obedience classes for over 30 years,
which Clint attended and trained in as early as the age of 5. His parents
had a UD titled Collie, Danny, that Clint took through all the courses.
They were best friends, and Danny served as a pillow whenever Clint decided to
take a nap.
Clint started in Junior Showmanship at the age of 12, and was the #1
Junior in the United States in 1987. That win allowed Clint to represent
the United States at Crufts for the International Junior Handler of
the Year Competition in 1988. Clint became the first American to win
that competiton.
During Clint's junior years, he assisted other professionals. For over
5 years he worked for them learning how to properly care for, maintenance
and showing dogs. He did this on the weekends during the school year,
and fulltime during his summer vacations. He worked with many breeds
from all 7 groups. The education he received was invaluable.
Clint began handling professionally in January of 1989 while attending
St. Mary's University. While traveling and on the road, Clint earned
a B.S. degree in Biology and Chemistry.
In 1992, Clint was awarded the Kennel Review/Tournament of Champions
award for the Best New Handler, the last year such awards were offered
until Dogs In Review began awarding them again.
Throughout the years Clint has handled many of the nation's top winning dogs, as well as servingas a Junior Handler Judge.
